Origin

Dobby is the regional name for "Tag". You may also call it "Chase", "Tig" or "It". Dobby is a chasing game, and there are lots of different variations. The basic game is that one person is "on" or "it", and they have to chase and touch another player (dobbing them, or tagging them) who then becomes "it".
